Tax Season is around the corner!! Hi! I am a former licensed tax professional in Maryland. I gave up my license (let it expire) when I found out that to help people file their taxes my business expenses would be too great to make money - the licenses, computers, bank relationships, etc, would mean I would have to charge my clients more than I would prefer to. Since I am not currently licensed, I cannot charge anyone for helping them file their taxes. But I am very knowledgeable with taxes and have been doing my own taxes for over 30 years now - both short-form/standard deductions, to rental property taxes, to other business taxes such as home daycare and I know how to get deductions for often overlooked situations - such as the home office or inventory storage time/space deductions (available even if you don't own your home!), and others. Free advice even if you want to file your own taxes.
I can help you get your stimulus money or EITC (if you qualify) even if you have no income and do not need to or ever filed any tax forms. You need a state issued ID and your SSN, and a place (address) where you can receive a check or a direct deposit into your account. No in person visit needed - can do over phone from your location or in person. Any personal data will NOT be shared with anyone. I use a secure online portal (usually a major Tax services provider such as Jackson Hewitt, Turbo Tax, etc - depends on your needs/situation to get the free filing. If you don't qualify for free filing, then I will prepare the forms directly and you or I can mail them to the IRS or use their Free-file (again, depends on your unique situation.) And you set your OWN PASSWORD.
Do you have a hobby that could be deducting as a business? Is it or does it supply income, or is expected to in the next couple years? Did you know that you do not have to always pay taxes on unreported income? I can answer your tax questions and/or help you file your taxes.
Do you think you might qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit? This credit you can earn even if self-employed, and your income can be higher than the cutoffs - don't count just GROSS income. You need to file the taxes just to find out if- after usual and customary expenses (such as business use of your home, other costs), you can qualify. Are you employed AND working a small business on the side? Flea marketing? Selling stuff online? Babysitting? Pet walking or sitting? Ridesharing? You *MAY* qualify - using the expenses of this business - for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Do you provide child care /babysitting and want your clients to be able to deduct on their taxes what they pay you, but NOT give them your own personal SSN? I can help you get an alternate number to use. You do NOT have to have a daycare license.
